During the Course

How to start and progress through the course?

Your course includes a number of modules (depending on which course you are taking). Most course modules include 2 sections: Study and Exams. In order to complete the course and receive your Free Digital Certificate to confirm the course completion, you need to study all course modules and pass the course exams with a minimum score of 55% in each module.

To login to your account (Virtual Campus) please click to Login in the top right corner of our website - www.internationalopenacademy.com

Once you enter your Virtual Campus please go into the course you have signed up for and click on the 'Go to Course' button. You must then click on the 'Activate Course' button to begin your studies.

The upgrade packages you see after you click the activate button are optional documentation. They allow you to purchase the hard copy documents and some extra study time at a lower price than if you were to purchase them individually.

To start your course just click the "NO THANKS" button.

In order for our system to track your course progress, we ask you to click the "Save and Continue" button on each course page. The button is located in the right bottom corner of every course page (study material, exercises, and exams). This will trigger your Course Progress details to be updated (read more about how to check your progress in “How to check my progress?”). Your course progress must show 100% in order for you to receive your Free Digital Certificate.

Once you complete the Study section for the particular module, we recommend that you go next to the Exam section to test your study-topic knowledge (read more about how to complete exams in “How to complete my exams”; read more about how to check your marks in “How to check my marks”; read more about your grades in “What are my final grades”).

Exam sections consist of questions to continuously assess your knowledge (based on the Study sections). In order to successfully complete your course, you need to pass exams with a combined score of at least 55% per module. You are allowed one reset per exam task free of charge. At the end of the course, you will receive your Free Digital Certificate confirming course.

How to save course pages?

In order for our system to track your course progress, we ask you to click the "Save and Continue" button on each course page. The button is located in the right bottom corner of every course page (study material, exercises, and exams). This will trigger your Course Progress details to be updated (read more about how to check your progress in “How to check my progress?”). Your course progress must show 100% in order to receive your Free Digital Certificate.

How to check my progress?

At any time during your course you can check the exact % of your course progress. The overall course progress % is displayed in the course panel of your Virtual Campus, above the marks. You will see a grey/brown circle. To see your progress % for each course module please click the progress circle or the marks %. If the particular module is not fully completed (< 100%) you will have a further option to click on “View Unsaved Pages” to see the list of unsaved pages. In order to complete that module you will need to go back to your course material and save any remaining pages. All course pages have to be saved for all of the study, exercise, and exams sections.

How to check my marks?

To check your score for each module please click on the marks % from the course panel on the virtual campus home page or click into the course and click on the 'my marks' bar at the top of the course pages. You will be able to see from here if you have passed or failed the module. To see further details on your marks click on “detailed view” and a full list of your marks will appear. Once a module is completed and passed, you can go back to the exam section and on each exam pages you can check the correct answers by clicking on the "check results" button.

If you have failed the module (received < 55% mark), you only need to resit enough exams within that failed module to achieve pass rate of 55%. We recommend you review details of your marks carefully before going back to the course pages to resit task. We recommend you resit exams where you scored the lowest % to maximise your chances of achieving a 55% module score. In the exam section will see a "resit" button instead of a “check-results” button on each exam page.

Please note that there’s always one resit per exam free of charge however you’ll be charged an additional fee only if and when you resit the same exam again. If you have failed the module but cannot see the "resit" button on course pages that means you have some unsaved pages within the module. Unsaved pages can be in any of the three sections: study, exercises, exams. To read more about how to check your progress and ensure you have saved all pages read in "How to check my progress?"

How to complete my exams?

To start the exams please click on the “Exams” section under each module. If there is no “Exams” section under the module it means that this module is not graded. Please complete all exam pages. Once you click "Save and Continue" you will not be able to amend your answers. Most of the exams include single or multiple choice questions as well as true or false type questions. Your score is calculated as an average of the exams you complete within the exam section of each module.

To read more about checking your score please go to "How to check my marks?"

How to resit a module / exam if I failed a module?

A module is failed if you have completed all exams within a particular module with a combined score from the tasks of less than 55%.

If you have failed the module (received < 55% mark), you only need to resit enough marks within that failed module to achieve a pass rate of 55%. We recommend you review details of your marks carefully before going back to the exam section to resit a task.

We recommend you resit exams where you scored the lowest % to maximize your chances of achieving a 55% module score. Within the exam section, you will see a "resit" button instead of a “check-results” button on each page. Please note that there is always one resit per exam free of charge, however, you’ll be charged an additional fee only if and when you resit the same exam again, after the free resit.

If you have failed the module but cannot see the "resit" button on exam pages that means you have some unsaved pages within that module. Unsaved pages can be in any of the three sections: study, exercises, exams.

To read more about how to check your progress and ensure you have saved all pages see "How to check my progress?"

I cannot see the resit button?

The resit button will show on the exam pages within the exam section. You will only see the resit button if all pages within the module have been saved (study, exercise, exams) and the module is failed (a fail is below 55%).

If you have failed the module (received < 55% mark), you only need to resit enough exams within that failed module to achieve the passing rate of 55%. We recommend that you review the details of your marks carefully before going back to the exam section to resit a task and that you resit exams where you scored the lowest % to maximize your chances of achieving a 55% module score.

On the exam section pages, you will see a "resit" button instead of a “check-results” button. Please note that there is always one resit per exam free of charge, however, you’ll be charged an additional fee only if and when, you resit the same exam again after the free resit.

If you have failed the module but cannot see the "resit" button on the exam page, that means you have some unsaved pages within that module. Unsaved pages can be in any of the three sections: study, exercises, exams.

To read more about how to check your progress and ensure you have saved all pages see "How to check my progress?"

Can I resit some exams to improve my course score?

Exams can only be resit if you have failed the module (received less than 55%). If you pass the module, you can go back to each exam and check the correct answers by clicking on ‘check results’ button at the bottom of every exam page. Since you have access to all answers, it would be unfair to allow you or any students to resit modules that have been successfully passed.

Will I have access to course materials after my course expires?

All the course materials are available until the course expires. This means that, if you’ve completed the course already, but you have study days left, you can still access the course. Once your course expires, you will have access to the Virtual Campus but not to the course material. However, there is an option to purchase a course subscription, which will give extend your access to the course materials for either 6 or 12 months.

You have 60 consecutive days to complete the course from the date of activation. We recommend between 30 and 160 study hours depending on your chosen course. If you cannot continue with your course you can allow the course to expire and once you are ready to resume your studies you can purchase an extension, we have many flexible options available.

How to extend my course?

Your course expires 60 days after you activate your course. If you need more time, you can purchase an extension from your Virtual Campus by clicking the "Extend Course" button and selecting the extension option you’re interested in. If you extend the course after its expiry date you won't lose any of your previously completed work and you will be able to resume your studies where you left off, you'll find everything exactly as you left it.
