MEET THE INSTRUCTOR

Simon Smith

Simon Smith is a British guitar player, teacher, and musician. He started playing the guitar at 16 years old after hearing Iron Maiden at his friend's house during the school summer holidays, and deciding that he needed to learn how to make those sounds!

After years of playing and teaching with no formal qualifications, he decided in his 30's that it was time to sit his guitar exams. Simon now holds a grade 8 certificate in guitar performance from the Registry Of Guitar Tutors. As an instructor, he has been teaching for over 20 years, and has privately taught guitar to students from 8 years old to 82 years old.

As a musician, he has performed in multiple bands and gigged and toured extensively across the UK as well as playing in Europe. The music he has performed ranges from Heavy Metal to Pop, Funk, Jazz, Rock and Indie. He has also performed on several albums, and completed session work for record companies and studios around the world thanks to the opportunities provided by the internet.

He has a wealth of knowledge of guitar techniques, music theory, and recording and is ready to share his knowledge with you!
